Invitation to participate in a study examining impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on women scientists in the diabetes field

PhD Candidate and WIELD member, Jennifer Maizel, MPH, is conducting an ethnographic study on impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on women scientists in the diabetes field. This is a survey and interview-based research study examining how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected women scientists’ careers and personal lives, as well as strategies for overcoming gender inequities.

This study consists of two parts: a brief survey that will take approximately five minutes to complete, and an interview conducted via Zoom that will take between 20 to 30 minutes to complete. Both the survey and interview will consist of questions pertaining to how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected you professionally and personally, as well as your experiences with gender inequities. Please note that your survey and interview responses will be kept confidential, de-identified, not shared externally, and only used for the purposes of this study.

If you are interested in participating in this study, please contact Jennifer Maizel at jmaizel@ufl.edu. She will provide more information, an informed consent document, and instructions for participation.
